Recent European immigration to the United States

Although immigration from Latin American and Asia constitute the major portion of current immigration to the United States, European immigration is still substantial and is at its highest levels since the 1920's. Expansion of the American Community Survey in 2005 and 2006 permits the annual measurement of the number of immigrants and their social and economic characteristics in a way never before possible with U.S. data. The character and level of this migration has changed substantially with much higher levels of education and income and a wide mix of European countries of origin.
