Aging and sustainable development

Indicators can provide crucial guidance for decision-making in a variety of ways. They can translate physical and social science knowledge into manageable units of information that can facilitate the decision-making process. They can help to measure and calibrate progress towards sustainable development goals. As we know the Elderly people increased rapidly during previous decades and we expect a continuously increasing of the elderly population percentage around the world, although this is a very important category, there is no indicator relating elderly people inside the core of sustainable development indicators developed by UN ( last version 14 /6/2007) This paper tries to develop an Elderly Development Index (EDI) and incorporate that index in the core indicators of the sustainable development indicators
