Equity fairness in abortion services oriented to vulnerable groups of women

Health and Family Association, a non profit NGO leads a program aimed at providing integral abortion services to vulnerable groups of women in Catalonia since 1991. This program whose name is “Safe Motherhood Assistance” has attended more than 38.000 women and 4.210 women during 2006 year, from which 66% have been immigrants. The Program is based on a tripartite collaboration scheme: Privates abortion clinics, Public Healthcare and this Association. The most important achievements to stand out are: To make possible an abortion co-paying system, free post abortion contraceptive attention and capability to adjust to the different population change and also to new vulnerable situations.
