This paper tries to light up on some individual and family characteristics of three communities living in some big Italian cities. The census allows to study some aspects of the international migrations, since it allows to collect information on the overstaying part of the foreigners in the country at the census date, i.e. on the resident foreigners. Moreover the census allows to collect some individual information at a very detailed level, so the census remains one of the best data sources for territorial analysis and the population census remains one of the best choices to analyse some characteristics of the migrant population. In previous studies, some big Italian cities have been analysed separately with the aim to point out the land settlement of resident foreigners at the date of census. In the present study, instead, the authors focus only on some communities with the aim to underline possible similar demographic characteristics in the same community but living in different cities of the country, and then in different areas of the country, and possible similar demographic characteristics in different communities but living in the same area and/or in the same city. The focus of the analysis is on the communities: Morocco, Philippines and China. After a first overview on the demographic characteristics of the considered communities in the analysed cities, the authors focus on a more detailed analysis about the families of those foreigners and their living conditions to underline similarities or dissimilarities, if they exist, in the family characteristics and structures.
